More than a single aircraft, the destroyer family was developed to take on a myriad of roles. Long-range fighter, fast bomber, bomber-destroyer, night fighter... The Me-110, Me-210, and finally the Me-410 were jacks of all trade, but masters of none, as many ended their careers (and that of their pilots) as smoldering wrecks all throughout Europe, since they were never able to cope with the speed and maneuverability of single engine fighters such as the Spitfire, Thunderbolt, Mustang or Yak.

  • A wooden, twin engined, fighter-bomber? In the 1940s?

The very idea is absurd, right Willie (Messerschmidt)?

Only those silly Englanders, at DeHavilland, would do something like that.

Then they'd call it a, "Mosquito".

Everyone else would call it, one of the best aircraft of the war.

  • Great series, watched them all as a kid. Good documentary, good film, and one of the most underrated and effective soundtracks of any documentary series I've seen. All the "Wings" shows on Discovery were good, but this one was sublimely well done.

  • I love these as well, and thank you, too.

  • @DarkWizard83 me too

  • thanks

  • I absolutely adore these series - thank you so much for uploading.
