The very first time I've ever listened to Brandenburg played in piano. This is also great!

The music starts at about 3:00

The great keyboard maestro here appears with his friend, the violinist, Oleg Kagan. My Russian is poor but I glean that the flautist is Marina Vorothstova and the conductor Yuri Nikolaevsky. Many thanks for posting this masterpiece. Very best wishes.

Wonderful video; thank you for sharing.
In response to the comments below, there are conflicting schools of thought as to whether or not vibrato was used in Baroque and Classical music: certain contemporary pedagogues wrote to avoid it at all costs and others to go ahead and by all means use it. True -- they were probably not referring to the heavy, schmultzy romantic sort of vibrato, but the notion that it was a foreign concept to the 18th century is a fallacy.

@23kfmk 'cos it's Russian. The film by Andrei Zolotov.

@angryjalapeno You're right, vibrato is usually a horrible thing, and it should never be used in baroque or classical period music.
But other than that, the violinst did play rather well. I turned down the volume a bit, and the vibrato became entirely inaudible, due to it having the same frequency as my PC's ventilation fan. :o)

Is the flute out of tune, or am I hallucinating? As soon as the flute starts playing, the music feels wrong. When it stops, it feels right again.
The piano meshed in better than I expected, even though I usually prefer historical instruments.

The violin's heavy vibrato/off-pitch playing is a turn-off. The flute and violin are supposed to be the dominant sound at the beginning. The keyboard should reveal itself slowly as the main attraction ... not from the very start. This video show that the harpsichord's shimmering sound can't be replaced by a piano's duller sound.

I am Japanese. So I can understand subtitles. But I can't recognize what language this is. I will show the meaning of subtitles in English some day.
