  • Sorry dude. Avast blows; isn't real-time. Same for ClamXav. You would constantly be having to scan files. Get iAntivirus. Best free one out there.

  • @satointl Good point. I will try that out. Clamxav does indeed suck. iantivirus. thanks. or AVG.

  • I will thanks man!

  • I strongly suggest you check out MacMostVideo's take on this.

  • @RickMacMerc Thanks i will.

    That is not true.

Market share has nothing to do with the non-existence of Mac OS X viruses, it is the underlying system, that prevents the privilege escalation a virus needs.

Look for "The Mac OS X Malware Myth Continues" to learn more about that.

Look for the "Mac Virus / Malware Guide" on MacRumors to learn more about Mac OS X and available malware and the differences and ways to protect yourself.

  • compared to PCs they dont, but they still do. Now one in every four personal computers sold are apple made, as they got more popular, they got more viruses.

  • @FlyingLaptop That's what some fans say. I own Apple products and I love them but viruses do exist for the Mac. Apple even said so on it's Snow Leopard page.

  • I thought Macs never get viruses...

  • Also, have you tried iAntiVirus free antivirus software Lawton? If so, how does it stack up with these two?

  • I'll try one and see how it works. Thanks Lawton!
