And Junior is doing it without distortion or electronic magic

@JOHNLIGHTNING - It looks as though he was playing some pretty big telephone poles on that guitar to be pushing them that fast.

Nice playing and singing .. Too cool .

Milliard Kelso tapping the ivories and Junior Barnard doing things with an electric guitar that was way ahead of the time. Don't get any better than that. These guys had real talent.

Much as I love Junior, to say he was unique is a stretch. He's playing very much in the style identified with Charlie Christian, as were a good few others in the SW at the time. What's interesting to note is that these Western Swing guitarists were much closer to Christian stylistically than any of the jazzers, despite the fact that all were deeply influenced by him. Must have been something in the water down there!

funny cowboys

Tommy Dunan was one of the best singers ever and Bob Wills knew how to entertain people!

Are anyone's licks more distinctive than brother Kelso's? Yep, Jr.'s piano is devistating too. Man, you can't beat that sound. :)

Junior Barnard and Leonard Kelso tearin' it up
The GREAT JUNIOR BARNARD playing a rocking solo some years before their was rock & roll. One of the underappreciated best ever!

The finest country music ever recorded! Bob Wills and Tommy Duncan are truly immortal for their work in country music!
And, Junior Barnard was doing things on the guitar that was unique for his time. Many a guitar player today owes a great deal to Junior, whether they realize it or not. Thank Heaven we still have these old films of these outstanding musicians!
