Great Lovers Rock Track written by Dennis Bovell and Errol Pottinger.

This was one of the early hits of this UK based group that became known more as a Roots band than this Lovers Rock track would suggest.

The group, led by Dennis Bovell, included Errol and Glaister Pottinger, Uton Jones, Bevis Fagan and Nicholas Bailey.

Bovell is widely credited as the inventor of lovers rock. He is also known for attempting to fuse disco rhythms with reggae, most notably with the hit song "Silly Games" by Janet Kay.

The Matumbi are a group based in the Lindi Region in southern Tanzania, on the banks of the Ruvuma River.

  • This brings back memories of decent raving back in the day. Yeah, we may have only been 16 and yeah we used to sneak out but we dressed respectably in our finest, treated people's properties with respect, there was no stabbing and fighting, man used to pull you for a dance, man used to smell good, decent curry goat and rice free flowing and if you were one of those that stayed to the end, you could guarantee a fry dumpling brekfast (yes, brekfast not breakfast). Those were the days, indeed.

  • you have to get a dance to this...

  • nice it up browning loveing the tunes

  • Saves me digging this timeless track out of my vinyl 7" box, thanks!. Love Carb10's comments when our parties were something else. Sad that the young people today can't experience what unity we felt when we gathered at someones house. No fears, just love of the music and of course the food :-) those were the days.
