"It's totally scary to be so vulnerable when I know however many metalheads are going to diss it because it's not the exact same thing [as the other songs]. And it doesn't end with, 'And then he died' or 'I pushed him off a cliff' or 'He's a ghost really.' It's so cool to me and weird to me. I've never written a happy song, ever.




I had gone through a lot of difficult things during the writing of the whole album, and by the end of it, I had stepped away from those bad situations. That's really hard. You have to be really brave and strong about it. After doing that, I felt so amazing. For the first time I felt like I could write a song based on how good I felt. I have never done that before, ever.

I think Good Enough is the most inspirational, good feeling, non-Goth song you'll ever hear, but there are people who can't get past their initial perception of our music."

"The song is described as "a string-and-choir-infused closer distinguished as the band's first truly (almost) contented song" by Evanescence.com, the song is reminiscent of the piano ballad Give Unto Me in it's purest form.

It is decidedly upbeat and showcases an Amy Lee that is letting someone in and who sounds happily in love. She thinks it is the bravest track on the album.
The song was inspired by Josh, Amy's then boyfriend and current husband.
At first, Amy Lee did not intend for this song to be on The Open Door. In an Italian interview with Rock TV, Amy said that she thought the song was not Evanescence's style. She intended to keep it to herself, but after showing it to the band, they all liked it."

lol call me weird, but EVERY TIME I hear the intro to this song (which by the way is absolutely beautiful) I automatically think of the renaissance period, and all these gorgeous ball gowns, and Romeo & Juliet, and ...ah man, I love how Evanescence can take a song and give it a different meaning to each person, just with the instrumental music in the background :)

"so take care what you ask of me, cuz I can't say no.." that's the last of the lyrics that you missed, which is a shame becuz the ending is just phenomenal as is the whole song and Amy Lee's voice, which is hauntingly beautiful.
