Residents of the Bridgeton community in Portand, Oregon band together to fight unwise tree-cutting on the levee at the Columbia River. Broadcast Oct. 8, 2007 on KATU 2 News. Professor Brian Stipak, interviewed midway through, is Alice's brother.

  • There was no science behind the cutting. I recall something like 135 trees were initially slated for removal. Mostly hardwood like Cottonwood and Ash.

    Portland has increased it's tree canopy over the past 30 years, and illogical removal is inconsistent with the city's conduct.

    Remember, FEMA is behind this. "You're doing a HECKA JOB Brownie"

    Oh yeah, the Army Corp of Engineers and FEMA did a great job in New Orleans. I don't trust them at all. Their science is MEDIEVAL.
