Renaissance - development of chord progressions in dance music. Passamezzo Antico: (Am G Am E, then Am G Am E Am)- Greensleeves. Passamezzo Moderno (C F G) - the primary triads still dominate music.

Dischord / dissonance - the tritone (Devil's Interval). (Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze").

Summary - Harmonics generate triads, Notes fit chords, major and minor have diferent moods, the relationships between chords create a sense of progression.

Tonic and Dominant are the most important relationships in western music from 15c onwards. (Beethoven: "Ode to Joy", Bruce Springsteen: "Born to Run", Beethoven: "5th Symphony").

  • does this man just sing everything? astonishing

  • The dominant of the subdominant is the tonic of the original scale. There must be a connection. Quite interesting. The music theory is quite interesting as it isn't invented but discovered.

  • Yay dissonance!

  • Is Jimmy a modern composer? When I look at Hendricks scores I'm like WTF? What Key is this in? WhisKEY?

  • thank you !

  • Go to a piano. Play middle C and B above middle C at the same times. Sounds terrible, right? No play both of those again, but add in the fifth of C major, G. It sounds much better now, and almost all of the dissonance is gone. Now just add in the third as well, and it's a beautiful chord (my favorite) (:

  • This guy is just really skilled, fucking Gansta

  • i love how classical songs have the journey of a soundscape only best listened full... not alot of musicians today do that due to the short attention spend i guess..

  • Finally I can see this again

  • This series completely opened my mind. I used to be exclusively rock and roll. After watching this, ABBA, Bee Gees and even Celine Dion isn't that bad. Even rap, which I hated, isn't that bad either.

    Well, except for Justin Beiber.

  • Fuck yeah, Blueberry Hill

  • @ronzy and in the right key before even playing it!
