New expanded footage of young Ray Reussner performing the "Sarabande and "Bouree # 1" from the Bach Cello Suite Number 3, (arranged by John Duarte) for Maestro Andres Segovia at the 1965 masterclass in Compostela, Spain. Maestro Segovia is very complimentary of Ray. This seems to be rarity among his students. Ray went on to study with Segovia, off and on, for another 20 years, as well as with John Williams at the Royal Conservatory. Ray is considered to be one of the very few "true" remaining links to Maestro Andres Segovia.

"The dedication to his profession, his talent and his willingness to work have made him into one of the most distinguished young guitarists of today, deserving of the success that awaits him and that I predict for him ... He shows a refined sensitivity and gift for interpretation, a perfect knowledge of the guitar technique." Andres Segovia

From the upcoming DVD :Sound of the Guitar" to be release in January of 2009 on Heartside Music. See http://heartsidemusic.com

  • i never saw that ray is amazing, im a huge segovia fan, but you gotta admit he only compliments players that sound exactly like him, i.e. christopher parkening and others i stil think segovias the best, todays players need to slow down and PLAY the guitar, its not a note spitting machine buy some segovia recordings and learn how to speak with the guitar

  • what? a lot of the players went on to be successful. Now, international recording artists may be a different thing but Segovia was a lightning rod for the guitar as its repertoire would be nowhere without him...

  • En la esquina se puede contemplar al maestro José Tomás, que nos dejó hace diez años, y a quien pude conocer en cursos.

  • Nice tone and nice technique! He did the master proud!

  • Excellent!

  • Everyone whishes he was Segovia. :) But Segovia is still the one.

  • Yamashita is a Master, but Segovia is a God of the guitar.

  • Yes6 there were many Segovia's pupils, but Segovia is still the one, the icon of the classical guitar.
