@vanhalenmk Keep in mind they are not unix-based, but unix-like, both Linux and FreeBSD (in which Darwin, kernel of OS X based on) been made from 0, just keeping the standards of unix, making them imitating the Unix. It allowed to run already existing software. Not to mention MacOS switched to Unix-like envriament starting since OS X, if there would not be Unix they would use there own kernel.
