  • it is an error to say on august 15, we celebrate expulsion by the english! what?

August 15 is a catholic celebration of the Assumption of virgin Mary. The date was chosen by acadians as their Holiday.

It is linked to the choice of Virgin Mary as the Patron Saint of the Acadians (ratified by the Pope). Acadiens chose her becaue they felt they needed a most powerfull saint, given the many obstacles they faced and were still facing in the Maritime provinces.

    Cheers!
