wired.com: "[Wipprecht] came up with a unique way to keep women fashion forward by creating a system of pneumatic control valves within a neck-piece that pump ink designs into absorbent dress material. The electronic circuits fitted on the back of the neck-piece are powered by a single 9 Volt battery."

The pseudomorphs prototype neck-piece designed by Anouk Wipprecht in collaboration with V2_Labs in the Netherlands (as part of an artist in residency) and is controlled through pneumatic control valves and an pressure and control system that allows the ink to be pumped throughout the design. It basically spreads the ink over a series of absorbing dresses in a uncontrolled matter, making the designs to 'bleed' the ink that is given to them, while creating fluid displays.

Pseudomorphs is developed at the V2_Lab as part of the Summer Sessions 2010, and will be featured on the Vienna Fashion week 2010 during her show at the 26th of September. Special thanks to V2 / Simon & Piem, music by Feau

  • this looks awkward (but that's fashion for ya!). IMO the tubes should be wrapped around the neck like a necklace. it would look so much better if it was rainbow or multicolored or something--just one color looks like a 5 year old who just spilled Kool-Aid on him/herself

  • 1962, special order for dress in new Dr. Manhattan spin-off fabric. Viscous fluids between two layers latex, heat and pressure sensitive. Customer young girl, italian name. Never collected order, said dress looked ugly. Wrong. Not ugly at all. Black and white, moving, changing shape... But not mixing, no gray. Nobody wanted it, meant for me, took it home. Learned to cut it using heated implements to reseal latex. When I had cut it enough, it didn't look like a woman anymore.
