@datyngsta Actually, we are confessing them to God, not the priest. The priest is an instrument God uses, and their ministerial office has the authority to speak for God in giving absolution. So, thanks, but, I think the original teachers know a little more than you about the whole business. Not that you are not sincere, or anything.

That is true, about the Jews. I have seen the rabbi pray with the the chicken, winding it around and around over the head of the penitent. It was rather moving.

@hymnsinger5 Go behind the screen. You'll feel like a new person when you're done.

@SeptemberCatholic18 I never face the priest. It is too distracting.

@oXGrisieXo What exactly do you mean? A summary of our beliefs can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It's available online, so if you want to know what we believe, please consult the Catechism.

Sacraments aren't needed for your salvation. Christ died for you. He did what was necessary. Be thankful and accept His saving grace.

Baptism is Necessary:
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (Jn 3:5)
Communion is Necessary:
"Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you" (Jn 6:53)
Confession Prescribed:
"Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained" (Jn 20:23)

I haven't been to confession in 2 years, and I know I need to go, but I'm really scared.

Well they do give you the screen option if you don't want to face the priest. You feel much better afterward and you don't even remember about the nervousness. I just went today and thank God.
