This was originally produced in 1948, and was one of American Tobacco's first filmed TV commercials for Lucky Strike [produced by industrial film maker Jam Handy, who also produced several of American Tobacco's promotional films for theatrical exhibition in the '40s]. The success of this stop-motion animated ad paved the way for other tobacco companies to seriously consider buying ad time on television, and create their own filmed ads. "L.S./M.F.T." stood for "Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco".
Back then there wasn't any scientific proof that cigarettes were harmful. Its funny to watch old movies and see everyone smoking like its no big deal.
