@MaxGravitas this is part of the many facets of depression. You cannot ignore the genetic component that means a substantial number of people are quite simply born with differing brain chemistry. This may not automatically mean you will become a depressive person, however it does exarcebate and increase the likelihood. Dorothy Parker said it best when she said that Depression is a prison where you are the jailer. A primary characteristic of depression is a withdrawal from relations.

Nearly all chronic depression comes from a real lack of love in one's life and isolaton. The depressing, debilitating thoughts chronically depressed people have are because of the echoes of experiences leading to a loss of love in one's life. Get genuine loving relationships happening again in your life and depression fades.

I may have discovered where the inspiration for the South Park character Ms. Choksondik came from now.

Wow. I completely identified with that guy with the mood diary. I'm still in my teens though, so not quite 35 years...
Thanks so much for posting this

This video depresses me.

Thanks so much for posting this. RIP Spike - Goon Show forever! But aside from the celebrity endorsement, I would recommend this video to anyone whose pessimism about the future leads to depressed episodes. Thinking happy thoughts won't solve your problems but thinking negative ones won't help one bit. This video will help you maintain the crucial perspective. I particularly recommend it to those who are isolated, like me, and have to maintain self-drive without other's daily help.

I had been depressed since I was 17, I am 31 now...
I has been a rough road, and I am not someone of a poor standing. I was a Navy Submariner, and then I became US Marine. I have learned to challenge my thoughts, and stop drinking. Some days it is easy, sometimes it's really hard.
