  • Your camera is visibly shaken. I got the same results with Pro-am DVC200. In spite of what people are saying I found integrity of this crane is not up to my standards. One thing contributing to instability of the camera is off-axis camera mount.

Well, you get what you are paying for.

  • @mk181818 On this day I had not used it before and the counter weight was not heavy enough. I improvised with a container from my car and some rocks I picked up from the area. It was actually pretty funny. I think my camera is too big for the crane. I think a handycam sized camera would be better. If you look at the Crane test B it looks a lot better. I had the proper counter weights. I've since had a new bracket made to make it stronger. The offset bracket is not great it wants to twist.

  • @joefilm I found that the best camera for this operation is HVR-A1U. This is HD camera used for the helmet mount pro video shooting. Re standard L-shape bracket:

It is totally unacceptable. I will modify it for the axially mounted "basket".

  • @mk181818 That is a nice camera. Is it really only 2 lbs? I have a Panasonic AGHMC70 which is about 6 lbs. I'm going to try the crane with the Panasonic HDC-SD60 which is what I shot the Relife video with and the Darcy's kitchen stuff. It belongs to my daughter-in-law. It is probably less than a pound. I was using over 22 lbs for my counter weight! It was crazy. Let me know how your basket mount goes. Thats a great idea. I've also finally rigged up a Sony dvd player for a monitor.

  • Was it very windy? Why is there so much bounce?

  • @marshallandroxy please see my other comment. Having the right counterweight is really important. If the cam is balanced it works really well. I'm getting another bracket made to counter the torquing in the offset the weight of my cam is just 5lbs but it's a bit more than the crane should have tho it says it will support more I don't believe it. I got mine used, so the price was really good.

  • @joefilm Yes it is. I will let you know about my "basket" project. my counter balance is only about 6 lb. It is easy for the tripod and for me to use it. I found FEISOL SN/50100956 panning base and now I have it adopted to the crane/tripod mount. Works pretty well.
