Just for general information: this is an Austrian song about Archduke Johann of Austria who was very important for Styria which is an Austrian department. Since then you can call him a sort of Styrian national hero. So it doesn't have anything to do with German heritage!!! Every Austrian who has to hear such things is about to cry, nevertheless Angela Wiedl has the best performance of it although she comes from Bavaria/Germany.

This is my all time favorite video. I do not know the language or what she is singing about. The song is beautiful to my ears and Angela has the voice of an angel. I try to listen to this every day.

No, I used Merriam's. Which is also a perfectly acceptable choice. Regardless where I live the word department conjures up images of a department store or some government entity. "every Austrian who has to hear such things is about to cry." Sounds like a German 7th grader wrote it. Among other glaring examples of your lack of english skills. So try not being so sensitive and if you continue to practice your English it will be harder to detect that it is NOT your mother tongue. Department stimmt vielleicht im tiefesten Begriff des Wortes aber hoehrt sich halt kommisch an. See Wiki's definition and you'll understand what I mean.

1.) Styria is NOT a state it is a so-called BUNDESLAND in GERMAN, the English word is department!

2.)Of course they want to hear the song, I have never said anything else.

3.)And there was NO German state during Johanns lifetime just several german kingdoms such as Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, etc. And then there was the Austrian monarchy.

Thank you very much but when you want to correct other people you should be better informed than them which apparently you are NOT.
