Barcelos, pequena cidade banhada pelo rio Cávado, é famosa pelo artesanato de olaria e cerâmica, sobretudo pelo tradicional galo de Barcelos, que se tornou um símbolo nacional. A sua origem é atribuída a uma lenda: um peregrino inocente, ao preparar-se para deixar a vila, foi acusado de roubar e condenado a morrer na forca.

Barcelos, small city bathed for the river Cávado, is famous for the handycraft of pottery and ceramics, over all for the traditional rooster of Barcelos, that if became a national symbol. Its origin is attributed to a legend: a innocent pilgrim, when preparing itself to leave the village, was accused to steal and convicted to die in the gallows.
