"....An empty ghost town Kilinochchi has been 'captured' by the Army....no people, no LTTE fighters, no LTTE military equipments or infrastructure....Until you win the hearts and minds of the people, Tamil people, you may win battles but not the war...LTTE didn't take up arms from the start. Tamils negotiated for their rights in a peaceful manner for decades. Successive Sinhala governments ignored their pleas and only after many failed attempts LTTE took up arms. Even the LTTE agreed to an internationally sponsored ceasefire in 2002. However the government abrogated from the ceasefire agreement unilaterally in January 2008...There is no history in the world that any organisation winning the war by holding onto land. LTTE held on to land for this long against Sri Lankan aggression that was supported by the international community....Take ANC in Republic of South Africa or the KLA in Kosovo, it is the will of the people that wins wars...The will of the people is behind the LTTE and that is the strength...."
