  • I find this a very interesting period film, that I had not seen before either. It traces the very first beginings of the conservation movement for the protection of hunted speices so that they would not become completely extinct. We have come a very long way. Unfortunately not fast enough for many species. There is still much work to be done obviously. Yet this I find fascinating that entertainment was used to present the idea that could influence the way English speaking People view it.

  • Universal Studio at their best! Fast-paced direction by Raoul Walsh, excellent score by Frank Skinner!

  • Gregory Peck is a fantastic leading man.

  • The movie is great. One of Pecks best but often forgotten films. Thanks for sharing. And for those warm hearted seal lovers out there, 1850 was a lot different than 2012. Alot of animals were harvested because they were needed and used for everyday living. No we have not those needs today but give the folks of the 19th century a little slack.

  • Thanks for a great movie.

  • Seal hunting is a savage business founded on greed and the ridiculous idea that fur is a status symbol. The fur industry is disgusting, but this is an interesting film. I'd never heard of it.
