how to crate dig:1. find a nice reccord store.(prefably big...to get lost in the lost wax;))
2.GO IN IT
3.LOCATE VINYLS
4.APPROACH HEAD ON (dont be scared)
5.DIG! The 'Crate Dig':
i)work the two hands mama gave you to go through vinyls
ii) go through EACH one, kickass music always surprise you
iii)WARNING YOU WILL GO BROKE!!!

My friend Jake learned so much from this video. He's always looking for the perfect break. He said that he's now a master crate digger.

I don't know why people are giving this video such negative comments. It's clearly meant as a complete beginners guide to collecting records. He's just trying to be helpful and tell people about what some of the most common labels you'll see about are like. Imagine if you knew absolutely nothing about records and just had some things on itunes you liked and went looking for records for the first time. He's just trying to tell you to start paying attention to labels and giving a couple examples.

why would people leave negative or mean comments on these videos when it's obvious that these dudes are just trying to help upstart collectors!! geeez...freaken snobs

At 5:47 he says "Someone's vacuuming... That's nice." Great!
(I like that he didn't take the standard approach of yelling at a housemate to "shut that thing off!")

@genevabeefstarter As I understood it, carte digging is often used LPs, and often times they are a mix of music. Seems most bog vinyl stores have bargain boxes, usually on the floor since they are low profit for store. So far, I'm not going broke being a crate digger. Last week I looked through bins that were 10 cents per LP to $1 each.
Some crate digging takes a lot of time. One LP shop was an old house with 12 rooms, I spent 3 days just digging thru one room(the jazz room). Their LPs were $1

Thanks for the great video Brian. I'm a jazz, blues, latin, etc collector, some of the labels I love to find while crate digging: Verve, Fantasy, Blue Note, Concord, Atlantic, Arhoolie, Kalamazoo, Blues Thumb, Alligator, etc.

@BIGDO13 I've been crate digging for 35 years, no hiatus yet!

@BIGDO13 Bro, I bet this guy was crate diggin' when you were just a little spermy floating around in your dads little testicles.

He's trying to get you to buy the junk so you'll miss the rare shit...then he goes in and cleans up. Here's the fist rule of digging: THERE ARE NO RULES! Instinct and experience.

Just trying to help out thoes new DJs who are not familiar with lables. Not telling them what to do, just giving them some ideas of what they are looking at when they run across certian lables.

When i buy vinyls.I always make sure that its not white labels.I dont like white labels.I like when i see the name of the singer, the name of the song and the name of the remix.I also like picture covers and colored vinyls.I have a lot of vinyls.Mostly dance and house from the 90s.Dance music from the 90s is the best.If you love house music. You possibly have
some Strictly Rhythm vinyls.
