Samuel Feinberg plays Scriabin Sonata no. 2 first movement; this divine performance has perhaps never been surpassed. This photo is of Goldenweiser's class, circa 1905. Feinberg is on the far right, a youthful Goldenweiser seated next to him.. Scriabin would have been about 34 at this time.

  • clairvoyant, 'clear/vision' is used here to appreciate the extent to which Feinberg creates the illusion of being in spiritual contact with the composer. Nothing more, of course, but then nothing less as well. Schnabel can give the illusion of channeling Beethoven, particularly in slow movements. Listen to Natan Brand play Schubert's Moments Musicaux on this channel; same thing.

  • It's a divinely inspired playing certainly... I could listen to this for a long, long time...I really love the Richter and Ashkenazy versions, but this has something indescribably different..Thank you for sharing.

  • This is great playing, but why do you call him clairvoyant?

  • Feinberg + Scriabin = Magic!
