Chinese New Year celebration in Nathon on Koh Samui, Thailand. 28th January, 2012

One of the participants of the traditional procession slashes his tongue with razor blades.
Usually this kind of events is only done in Hat Yai and Phuket during the Vegetarian Festival to the best of my knowledge, to me it was a surprise that after having lived for over 12 years on Koh Samui, this also happens here.
Participants get into a trance before they start the piercings and the like and they slightly shake continually over their whole body.
