This video gives the basic difference between an independent contractor vs. an employee. Miscategorization of an employee can cost an employer thousands of dollars. In this case, we will break down a very typical case brought before the CA Labor Commissioner.

  • Funny you should ask. The Labor Commissioner put out two examples. The first is what was considered an Independent Contractor. The second was considered an employee. I will be posting it following this comment.

  • My new slogan, Cheng I can believe in!

    Thanks for the info.

  • Does this matter if you have a certain number of employees or people working for your company? Let's say the company only has two people working for it with one being the owner and very little income per year (under $600). If there's a signed contract between the owner and the worker, but the worker would otherwise be classified as a employee, are applicable? There was something I remember about a 1970s law where if you have a reason, it's okay if you are able to pass two requirements.

  • If I am a workout instructor am I an Independent contractor?
