This is actually being researched & as it turns out is quite viable. Smart materials will be the revitalization of many products on the market. It is already here if you look closely you'll find actually this technique in the new shock systems being developed for transport ingenious isn't it? The range of its application is not yet known. Big fan!

@RupertsCrystals Wow, just noticed that, it is a perspective illusion. It is being smeared along the counter top away from the camera VS lifting up and holding its shape. Thanks for pointing that out.
