This is a track from the Henry's Bootblacks LP "High Society" (Clifton Records CLS 33 2), recorded at the Cave Studio, Bristol on the 25th to 27th April 1984.
The musicians heard on the soundtrack are
DEREK LAWRENCE and
BOB MICKLEBURGH (trumpets),
"STEP" WHITEHEAD (trombone),
FRANK FENNELL and
NICK COOPER (reeds),
ANDY LEGGETT (reeds and vocal),
HENRY DAVIES (piano and 3rd trumpet),
GUS GANDER (tuba),
ROBIN A WOOD (banjo and vocal) and
BOB WATKINS (drums).
The video was shot in the back room of the Bristol Music Shop, 30 College Green, Bristol on the afternoon of the 10th February 1985. Step Whitehead was unavailable, so Richard Canter and Henry mimed the trombone parts.
Also, since banjoist Robin A Wood was to star in "No!" as the unwelcome sitter-in, the banjo chair was occupied by Richard Wynne (incidentally using Lonnie Donegan's original banjo -- the one he bought in order to join Chris Barber's band in the 50's).
DAVE GRIFFITHS shot and edited the video, contributing valuable ideas. Robin provided his own morning suit and topper plus stage make-up, did indeed find his "drumsticks" in the garden, and brought along his daughter Lucy and friend as extras.
Henry Davies, founder and leader of the Bootblacks, composed and arranged "No!"
Andy Leggett composed and arranged "Everyone's Got Horns", wrote the words for both numbers and persuaded all these talented guys to come and make themselves look daft for the afternoon. Both tunes are published by Tiger Tunes UK.
Salvation Army hats were from Sapphire Costume Hire. Ten pairs of rubber horns came from the joke shop on Colston Street at 50 pence each.
Never forget going to see the Bootblacks play live in Bristol, over fifteen years ago. One of the finest sounds you'll ever hear! This song was a particular favourite. And anything Henry ever wrote was magnificent too.
