  • The reason I recomend this?

The old ones used Bronze Valve guidesm,

And powdered graphite is easly absorbed by the Bronze,

It'd by no means a permanent fix, but it's a simple one and can be done with it's regular maintinance, Oil changes and such, and will save oil, as well as prevent the bronze guides from heat bonding and flaking with use.

  • Oh?

you mite soak the valve train and Jug in kerosien for say?

3-4 day's then rinse with brake fluid,

Clean with bake or carburator solvent,

fill with fresh W-40 oil, and then powder the guids with

Graphite, and runn till it set's in well.

A fellow mechanic in the usa, We have a 39 BSA 500

  • Sounds ok but burning lots of oil..tick over a bit too slow

  • Nice!!

  • My grandfather might have made that bike.
