god she was fearless back in the day. I still remember hearing her for the first time...what a breath of fresh air. I don't relate to her new stuff; seeing this is kinda bittersweet for me.

@TheMelissaNakama how on earth is it ironic to have a kid and be pro-choice?
-
Oh lets stop the arguing, sexuality is awesome because it changes. Why do we have to be gay/lesbian/queer/bisexual? Can't we just be human. Isn't that just enough?
-
@TheMelissaNakama You tried to be gay? Gay is something you are.

@MistressBlaed ^5 sisiter! rock on!

@TheMelissaNakama i hardly think i insulted you. I simply stated that you seem close minded. You "tried to be gay? ". I dont know why you include that in some kind of argument or reason . I am not gay and never tried to be. I am currently pregnant and am going to have the baby, my fiance and myself are very happy about it. I am an ani fan and i get angry when people try and put her in a ridiculous box. I am sorry if you felt threatened or offended by anything i said but you offended me.

@Lovemuffinz I did have an open mind and guess what? It leads me to dealing with people like you who irrationaly jump to conclusions and persecute people without even realizing what they are saying. I tried to be pro-choice, I tried to be gay, I tried to be cool, and guess what I'm not and it's wrong to be something you're not. So pardon me for living my life the way that it works out for me. And your insults only prove how thoughtless your stands are.

@Lovemuffinz As Eric Hoffer explained brilliantly, the "true believer" isn't capable of being swayed by logic or reason. In fact, more recent evidence suggests that contrary evidence actually makes such "true believers" more entrenched in their original position. The "true believers" here aren't necessarily religious, right wing, left wing or anything specific. It's a type of belief in whatever position one takes without consideration, reason or healthy skepticism.
Uh, you know she's married to a man, right? And has a child with him. Which makes her bisexual, and obviously not a man hating dyke (;
And even if she was gay, she's definitely not a bull dyke. She's way too femme for it.
This song is more a feminist statement, about being proud of your womanhood and your body and not letting anyone make you feel bad about it, not a "dyke thing". Just to clear things up.

I took a Women's Studies class a few years ago and my professor played a tape of this song. Sadly, the shock value was lost on me since I had already owned Puddle Dive, but watching eyes widen and jaws drop all around me was classic!
I've always loved the line "Got my vertebrae all stacked up high as they can go, but I still feel myself sliding from the earth that I know." What a fearless and talented writer she is!
