Sorry if none of this description makes sense, my heads all over the place at the moment :(
On sunday we came home from conrhenny jumping and tiffany couldn't breath, she was gasping for air making strange noises, i uploaded a short video of it;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3vkNxx_BG8
The vet came and gave her 2 injections, one to open her airways and one to get fluid of her lungs. Within half an hour she was breathing fine again, the vet thaught she'd had a severe alergic reaction to something. On Monday her breathing was fine all day, then tuesday morning it was dodgy again,she got so bad she had to lie down, then when she got up she fell over twice, we called the vet at 6:50, but he didn't come till 7:50, so for an hour she was staggering around panicking for air, he gave her a muscle relaxent, but it didn't do a thing, he came back with a camera which he put down her nostrils, it showed that her larynx had collapsed, so he decided to do a tracheostomy, it was so horrible to watch :( he cut into her throat, we put her in the corner of the stable while he did it so she couldn't move, but her legs we're shaking and 3 people had to hold her up :( Then loads of blood came out from behind her, but it wasn't from her stomach, she'd cut herself on the stable while they we're doing the operation. :( Eventually he got the tube in her throat and she could breath again. But he'd given her too much sedative and it didn't kick in until after he'd done the tracheostomy, so she'd gone through all that pain and trauma with no drugs, we had to keep her up until she came round, because if she lay down shavings would have gotten into the tube and choked her, eventually we go her out the stable and into a straw bed. But she wouldn't eat and she just looked so depressed and she just wanted to go :( She kept trying to drink water but she couldn't she just stuck her head in the water for about 5 minutes but didn't drink a drop. Her tracheostomy tube was only temporary, so we had the option for a permanent one, but the blood test results came back and she had liver disease, which was causing her aggressive behaviour, constant circling, and her being drunk and wobbly on her legs, and it was also what caused the larynx to collapse. The liver disease was from ragwort poisoning, we always dig ours out and burn it, but unfortunatly she was at a riding school for a few years and the ragwort was awful up there and nothing to eat. And for 2 years this woman had her in a field and didn't do a thing with her :( She didn't even get handled, And even though that was over 10 years ago, the poison does build up,, so please get rid of all ragwort from your fields, and maybe even get your horses blood checked before it's too late, because this is the most awful condition i've ever had to witness in a horse, and it could have easily been avoided :( Tiffany could have lived into her 30's, i was going to take her to some fun shows and to the beach again :( I have a show on Penny on sunday but i don't really want to go anymore :(
At 1st i just wanted tiff to be put down as soon as possible because i wanted her to be out of pain, but now i want her back :( I want to stroke her again and give her another hug. There was an injection that could of helped her liver but the chances were small, and the problem was she could have got colic from not eating or drinking. She was so weak because of this to :( She kept falling over in the stable :( But she was so mentally strong she got back up again everytime.
I've had her 11 years, i got her a few weeks before my birthday when i was just 3, she's been an amazing 1st pony, and best friend, she has touched the hearts of many :( And she will never be forgotten
