  • Have you done the "fire rolls" that they used to carry in the fire-pouch? A rolled tube from birch bark, with dry grass and /or juniper bark pieces in it. When you get the spark in to charred cloth, or amadou, just drop it carefully inside the roll and blow it gently to get the amadous glow to light up the contents and then the birchbark roll itself.

  • @Perkele1976 This is something I have to try. I have read about a similar idea "fire tube" with a hollow stem filled with tinder. The idea is to get the tube to light and to get smoke away from the ones face. Anyhow both of these sounds like good ideas! About your PM, you can publish the links if you wish :)

    Take care!

  • @38MarcW Thanks Marc! Hope all is well with you! The fire-steel seen in the video I made a few years ago (off video). It has some cracks in it from the hardening process, so I use it my self, cannot sell it :)

Take care my friend, wish you and yours all the best!
