Peter Hudson's third pedal powered 3d zoetrope, Homouroboros, is an allegorical take on human evolution and our current plight of too much energy consumption. The piece relies on pedal-powered cooperation augmented at daytime by solar panels, and early optical physics to convey its droll message and achieve its unique effect.

  • This seems cool, but I think 3d Zoetropes are much more impressive in person. I mean this seems cool on Youtube, but I'm guessing in person it's probably jaw dropping.

  • you are correct.

  • I did say that wasn't a criticism and you answered as if you took my comment as one...which it wasn't meant - the spectacular did look spectacular and like I said I bet it was really really good to be there in person at the time - I am just on the look out for projects that are using power used by the bicycle in the UK at this present time for ordinary everyday uses -know of any here or USA, Canada?

  • there are over a hundred on youtube. use innovate or die as your key word search. you can check oout more of my art if you look under my username petephuduh.

  • I bet thats really good to see for real - but have you done any work where the power generated could be used for something other than thought provoking art or entertainment - this is not a criticism - just interest in other projects you may have.

  • bike powered generators have been around for years. they can power whatever you like.

my business is interactive art that happens to utilize this technology.

  • I love 3D zoetropes so much.

  • impressive!

  • It's been 3 years since I've been to burning man after going 9 consecutive times.

I'm not too much into looking into Burning man things on the net these days as I've been busy with other aspects of life, but this is inspiring and very cool.

I can't wait to get back to Burning Man hopefully this year.

  • This is one of my favorite pieces of art
