A key ingredient of Earth's strangest clouds does not come from Earth. New data from NASA's AIM spacecraft proves that "meteor smoke" is essential to the formation of noctilucent clouds.

Reading the 60+ comments, many fall under this category: Remember that "A Nation At Risk," the 1987 booklet about the sorry state of American education and the urgent need to rebuild it, was published 25 years ago. That means there is a full generation and a half of graduates of an education program that has fallen behind other countries in many ways, but especially science and math. Here you can read the product of decades of science ignorance.

Got me! Gullible me. I actually waited for a plausible objective science-based observation and theory. Then HA! You set the hook. It's global warming!!! I didn't see that coming - the same old tired hydrocarbon criminal argument. Have you really lost all your native curiosity? Don't you ever get sick of the 'global warming' mantra? Don't you ever wish you could break out and do some real natural history type musing again? Hello? Anyone left at NASA who still loves science? Hello?

I'd say its more attributable to religion, the conspiracy theology; which may not have gods but has plenty of demons. Religion makes people look to the mythological world first before actually using their heads. It could be a myth that NLC are the spirits of ancient sea creatures, or a myth that NLC are the visible evidence of chem trails - same thing - myths based upon a prior belief system with no scientific validity... NLC are just beautiful, wonder how many conspiracy nuts have seen them...

Well, Like every ones saying history repeats itself, every thing that is happening on our planet Has supposedly happened before.. If it was like threatening, We wouldn't be here today. We must have adjusted to the climate, And moved on. But it does seem a bit weird that these things are happening with the polar shift, and all these earthquakes, even on mars and all these planets having strange phenomenons in our solar system. It's not just Earth.
