I own this lens. It is better walk around lens you can have without burdening your shoulder. The sharpness is superb and the contrast also.

There is only 1/3 stop difference in usable apertures ranges between these two:
ƒ/1.4 (any variation): F/2.0, F/2.8, and F/4.0.
ƒ/1.2 (any variation): F/1.8, F/2.0, F/2.8, and F/4.0.
It's up to you, really.

Yo, Joey!! You told me about this 'gem' two years back and you were NOT wrong!! Great lens and I DON'T regret shelling out the $300 for it...totally worth it.

Interesting. It should be sharp at F/2.0, yes? If so, then do not worry too much about it.
If you are not satisfied with the CA issue at F/2.0, you can use Nikon Capture NX2 to process your RAW files. Capture NX2 can automatically correct it for you. No need for Capture NX2 if using JPEG file format (with the latest generation of digital SLR's) because the camera automatically corrects them as they are being written onto the memory card.

@Lilkiwiguy87 the aperture are as far as i know in working order, the exposures seem fine and dandy, only that CA goes away at about 2.8

Oh, okay, that makes all of us (English is not our native language, either). If we have to choose which between "D" and "G" variations. We would choose the "D" variation because it handles flaring much, much better than the "G" variation. However, we would lose the ability to shoot in extreme conditions (rain or dust storms) due to lack of rubber sealants.
