Hey guys,

Blaze and I have been a combination for one year now and gosh he has changed a lot.....

In December 2009 Samson was diagnosed with Stringhalt, and at first I didn't really mind about not riding, as long as he got better. However after 5 months of not even sitting on a horse I was having major withdrawals!

I had inquired about leasing a few horses here and there but they all fell through or something was wrong with them, or the owner decided they didn't want to part ways with that horse. ugh! It was a tiring process.

Then one day I was driving with my boyfriend and Blaze's face just popped into my head (Back then he was called the Baldy horse lol). At first Matt wasn't very keen I had ridden Blaze a few times but he was just so skitty and nervous. Every time I dismounted he would jump 5 feet away from me and catching him was different story all together! He was very untrusting and even patting him or picking up his feet was a drama! This was because he was once ridden in an ill fitting saddle and his rider was attempting to undo a gate and the girth broke, sending both saddle and rider under his belly. The poor honey bolted and got spooked very badly. Ever since then he was thrown in the paddock for 5 years and not touched until I came along and rode him occasionally.
But despite his bad experiences, I asked his owner if he would be willing to let me take him on loan for a few months with the possibility to buy him. He agreed and since he hadn't ridden any of his 3 horses in a few years he told me I could pick which ever I wanted.

There was a pretty little Bay stock horse Gelding (Who is now ridden by my Mum) who was trained to sport, and sport he could!! I had a bit of a ride on him but he just didn't do anything for me. He could turn super fast he held his head nice and he was fun but he just wasn't what I was looking for.

There was also a palomino gelding, who had been professionally trained to cut and to neck rein. (He appears in this video a few times) He could slide stop and was super quiet and social, and apparently had never bucked in his life, but after doing a bit of cattle work on him I put that theory to rest lol bastard nearly threw me off! But hats not why I didn't chose him, again he just simply wasn't what I was looking for.

And then there was Blaze, a fat, pidgin toed, roach backed, dopy looking, nervous and untrained gelding. I'm not sure what it is that made me chose him that day... But I've never thought about changing my decision! (:

Together we have competed at Showjumping Championships and come home with Champions and Reserve Champions, He even won a rug at our first C grade outing!!
We've shown off in the Dressage arena and in hack rings and have always placed! We have been to five competitions and not once have we not placed in our class!! He even ripped up in the sporting events! (:

I'm so proud to own this amazing horse! He has such natural talent for everything! And he learns so fast and now after months of taking everything slow, lots of cuddles and stacks of attention and love I can honestly say I have a bond with this horse like no other!

He looks at me in a way I have never been looked at before! He watches me when I walk away from him at Pony Club and can pick my voice in a crowd of others. He whinnies out when I call him and comes galloping down the paddock when he sees me coming.

Our bond is a forever thing...
