The Ballad of Brian and Amy O' Driscoll

The Ballad of Brian and Amy was composed by All Ireland Champion Fionnuala Maxwell from Drumsna in Co. Leitrim for the marriage of Brian O Driscoll and Amy Huberman. The wedding was held in Aughavas church and reception in Leitrim's Lough Rynn Castle. She performed the song live on Shannonside Radio on the Joe Finnegan show the morning of the wedding. (2/7/10)
A call was sent to Lough Rynn Castle to let Brian and Amy know about the song. It was a huge hit with the Shannonside listeners. We recorded Fionnuala singing the ballad on the Sunday night of the Fleadh in Fitzpatrick's Ceili House Mohill.
Fionnuala was one of the main organisers of the very successful Connacht Fleadh 2010 in Mohill town.
She launched her first album at the Fleadh titled "Sing A Leitrim Song". The CD comprises of 12 Traditional Leitrim Ballads and Songs that have previously been unrecorded.
