This is a commission I am currently working on for my friend Rachel, who was my very first mentor when I was 12. It was actually because of her that I discovered Skidmore college as a teen and wound up going there for art after I graduated high school. We've kept in touch all these years and now I am working for her, which I think is pretty cool!
So this is a family portrait, as you can see at the end I have the photo it's based off of which I strongly references and painted/drew over to make sure their anime selves have a strong and accurate base. Here I am showing a snippet of how I color. I already did a lot of work here and got the base colors in and I am just adding the shadows and highlights now to finish it up.
