@abghostman Psycho was purposely shot in black & white. Firstly to save money as Hitchcock was financing the movie himself; and secondly as he was a huge fan of the French film LES DIABOLIQUES, and he wanted to emulate / pay homage to the style of that film; and thirdly Hitchcock felt that red gore would be too repulsive for his viewers. One critic noted how the black & white enhances its chilling and depressing effect and matches the sordid, seedy milieu of cheap motels, etc.
