Hammer Notepad: Antlion Subway

Cool, smart and talented people read descriptions.

What started to be "Lets see if I can make a map that has the style of the Left 4 Dead 1 beta" turned into a subway path filled with antlions. I started extracting things from my backed up pak file from Left 4 Dead 1 into a HL2 mod which is held up by my very low programming skills. So I mapped based on what I saw in the L4D1 beta clips I had, recreated some textures, made/found advertisements on Google and Bam. A dark, cold subway! But even though it looked pretty, It was very dull. I started to work on NPCs, something I never touch. zombies were dull for this, so I picked antlions because unlike the HL2 zombie, they are fast, and flexible. I also took a look and random npc spawns which consists of a logic_case for each spanner and it picks if it wants to spawn or not in areas that its called. Its so random, for this video I had to take multiple shots in-order to get a good play through for what I have done currently.

I'm looking at NPCs and I'm making the map larger. Remember, this is a test and I put it up on here because I see my Youtube as my portfolio for my mapping for Source.

TLDR: I made a map like if Alien Swarm and L4D had a child.

(Note: The models were pulled from FPSBanana, and Left 4 Dead. Sounds from Alien Swarm, FPSBanana, and Left 4 Dead. Everything else is HL2, pulled from Google or custom made.

@EpicnessPivotMaster Yeah, I had quite some fun making advertisement till I found out that there is a site that you can pull real advertisements off from any region.

So far, this is a test map. If people are interested in it, it can be big. Right now, just a test with NPCs and dynamics.

@ieetmelon Thats the point. If you ever look at the old old clips of Left 4 Dead 1 from 2007, I basically took the style from it. I love game betas. :3

I'd like to see you attempt a beta styled map. Someone made a pretty cool NoMercy 3 map, but its broken, for the most part. I'd actually like to see this continue.

Very nice I like the "No Mercy" feel of it. (When I clicked the video I literally thought it was a L4D map) I agree with on the love for game betas. Good video hope to see more from you.
