All I can say is how happy I am that I have my brother with Down syndrome and my mother with Lou Gehrig's disease :)

@misterdeity I am honored that Mr. Deity himself responded! As I see it, there are two ways to respond to suffering. We can either draw inward in despair and contempt towards others or we can reach out are arms with love and hope. I choose the second. While my brother with Down syndrome may not have the highest IQ, his wisdom surpasses the majority of great thinkers. Instead of sarcasm in the face of adversity, he shows compassion toward all. I continue to learn from him and my mother...

@gracewaters09 Yes, I am aware that people with Down Syndrome can be truly amazing human beings. And people with Lou Gehrig's disease, can be among the move valuable people on the planet (certain scientists, for instance), but I also thing the world would be a much better place if people didn't suffer from such ailments. And so do the religious. That's why they created Heaven!
