Why, that's the very same reason they're all hating on that kid. It's called "hate bandwagon". As much as a kid who doesn't like the music people his age usually are into is seeking for acceptance by sharing his taste, people are hopping into the bandwagon in order to comform to what society dictates and thus, also seeking for acceptance. Two faces of the same coin.
