Is this conversation taking place inside a giant trash bag? =\

Wow, a much needed dialogue. A true belief in the power of the gospel of grace and a vision of the poverty of sin though Christ's eyes - willl help us strike a godly balance in Gospel and mercy/justice ministries. AMEN!!

@john17v17 I've preached the gospel for thirty three years I began in hell's kitchen New York, South Bronx, Harlem. and the last fifteen years at a major university in the southwest.I know the gospel is evangelism and I know by experience. Not like some who speak much gospel evangelism ,do little. I know what the gospel word was and means today. But a good word study on humility is good for those whose head is in the books.I'm offended you thought you can challenge my being saved and give advice

@polopowers1 I don't see much point in trying to debate this further with you, as it seems to be generating more heat than light in your responses. If you want to study the matter in depth, you might start with visiting thegospelcoalition website , check out the resources incl. sermons/teaching/study materials by many respected scholars. All I will insist on in closing with you is that correctly understanding what 'the gospel' is, is vital for biblically faithful ministry. Study it.

@john17v17 Obvious to who? you said the gospel only meant death and resurrection of Christ found in 1 Cor 15. you forgot the original question Can gospel have different meanings other than the death and resuurrection. And was there a gospel preached more than that simple definition. And there was.You don't know whom your communicating with, you lost all perspective to original thought Your still reciting nothing The gospel meaning is more than evangelism Evangelism is verbal Gospel not always

@john17v17 I confuse my own works with the gospel? did you ever hear me tell you I feed the poor.? Did you hear me tell you works can save.? No, but your limited defining me instead of what I said, The gospel I SAID clearly is evangelism but not exclusively called evagelism Nothing Else. The gospel is more in Meaning than death of Christ good news was preached with no mention of death for understanding Paul in Eph 3 the mystery gospel could not be the gospel of MK Matt LK John. it was hidden

@john17v17 the arrogance of your question, the gospel is not un equivocally evangelism of. I also told you the gospel is 1 cor;15. And your arrogance is to ask me if I know God and how.I never said saved is in what we do I said part of the gospel can be understood as taking care of the poor.Tell me which gospel the seventy preached? not the death of Christ Read lk 10:,17 Lk 18:34 they understood another gospel in Lk 10 Gal 2: 9,10 The elders told Paul while your preaching forget not the poor
-
@polopowers1 May I ask you something? Are you right with God? If so, how?
The Gospel is not what we do. It is a message of what God has done. This is the only Gospel the apostles knew. Paul makes clear in 1Cor15 that his gospel is all about what God in Christ did through Jesus' death & resurrection, and Paul also makes clear in v11 that all the other apostles preached exactly the same gospel. You keep confusing your own works with the gospel.

@polopowers1 They did not preach the death of Christ because it had not yet happened, which ought to be so obvious it doesnt need stating. The church (which today means believers in Christ POST-his death & resurrection!) was commanded by Christ in Matt 28 to go into all the world with the gospel of repentance/faith in Christ. Throughout Acts the apostles begin to do this, & their proclamation was always verbal, telling of His death for our sins, resurrection, & repentance/faith in Him!

@john17v17 You keep confusing evangelism with gospel. What gospel did the seventy go out and preach. They did not preach death of Christ They did not understand Christ was going to die. So what gospel did they preach.? The gospel is evangelism I repeat the third time But it is not exclusive to evangelism. Paul's gospel to the Gentiles was a gospel he only received Eph 3, the mystery. The seventy preached another gospel under law Paul was reminded by elders don't forget poor while preaching
It would be fantastic if you could also get a video up with the full video, not cut up into parts. I can imagine that some might want to see these in a group or other setting, where advancing from video to video is difficult, and I am also thinking of maybe using it somewhere where it would really need to be a single video.
