Penn Rail Videos continues a yearly tradition of visiting the Strasburg Railroad for their annual "Trains & Troops" weekend. This weekend, locomotives #475 and #90 handle excursion duties, with #90 on the hourly excursions, and #475 on the troop train. In this video, we'll turn our attention towards the Troop Train, as we follow #475 from Cherry Hill east to Paradise, then we'll follow it was again for some. For our closing scene, we'll watch #90 cruise past Carpenters, with the golden sunlight hitting the smokebox just right.

This video is dedicated to all our men & women in the US Military, as well as Veterans who've served in past wars. It is because of these individuals that we continue to enjoy our freedom in America. Remember, freedom, is NOT free.

  • What whistle is on 475?

  • @SeriosProductions 8 inch hooter.

  • Wow, great video! Strasburg really keeps their freight cars clean and spiffy. I'm impressed.

  • @murjax It's hard not to be impressed with the SRC.

  • Great video, Adam! #90 has a beautiful whistle! In fact, it sounds almost identical to the whistle that New Hope and Ivyland #40 used to have.

  • @GenesisSanctuary Infact, it IS the same whistle!

  • @CSX6000, Cool video Adam! You got alot of nice shots of both the hour train and the troop train.

  • I don't think New Hope has anything to do with Strasburg, but I don't know for sure. I can tell you that the whistles I have heard on 40 in the past three years didn't sound anything like the whistles at Strasburg.

  • I see. That actually makes me wonder if the Strasburg Railroad and New Hope and Ivyland ever exchange whistles.

  • It's the same type of whistle, but 40s whistle is a little higher pitched than 90s.

  • Ahah, I knew it!! Wait, is it just the same type of whistle, or is it literally the EXACT same whistle?
