From a concert last year of William Walton's Belshazzar's Feast.

And I'm not sure why my recent uploads have the white sheen in the beginning.

  • An excellent performance of a fantastic work! I want to learn to do tamborine rolls like the young man in the percussion section-and the timpanist is superb. At 6:40 to 6:47 is that actor Barry Pepper playing viola? Had to ask, the young man is a stone look-alike. So nice to see singers express the text with their faces!

  • @tosherification You're making the timpanist blush.

  • One of the great choral orchestral masterpieces of the 20th Century! And a most handsome violinist at 0:27!

  • Looks like it was a wonderful concert. I'd give my eye teeth to sing this. I heard it once with Robert Shaw and the Westminster summer choir. At age 57 I'll be lucky to hear it performed again. Bless you all.

  • Don't scoop the cymbals!!

  • this piece of music perfectly depicts the times of hubris and excess that have been the hallmark of the last 10/20 years.

when i listen to the grim financial news everyday, all i hear in my head is this brilliant evocative work.

  • Oh yes, the concubines... The concubines and the SACRED VESSELS!! (Pity the selection doesn't keep those passages in.) I've never seen Walton get his full due for this brilliant musical study of paranoid delusion.

  • Nice job! Thanks for posting, a pity it's only highlights and not the complete work. I love this piece, still waiting for my chance to play it.

  • This is the most challenging work or music I have ever sung with the Auburn University Concert Choir and Birmingham Symphony Orchestra back in the early 90s. It's also one of my favorites! Great job!

  • Me too I am 2 seconds here.
