US Marine Commercial - Toys For Tots

In 1947, Major William L. Hendricks (May 3, 1904 - March 29, 1992) set up the Toys For Tots program for the United States Marine Corps Reserve. The mission of the program "is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted."

The stated goal is to "deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens."

Since then, the program has helped thousands of families during the holiday season.

I remember watching this when I was a little guy. Never would I have thought I'd be doing Toys for Tots when I was in the Marine Corps. It was a great feeling as a PFC sorting gifts and remembering this commercial.
