  • hi mate, ill be buying a smithi tomorrow, heard alot that they dont need heaters, or mats, is this true? cheers, rich

  • well, they can do well at room temperature... but if it gets below 60F/15C I would recommend that you either heat the room, or use a heat pad on one SIDE of the tank... :)

  • i bought a baby one of these last week. such cool looking spiders! do you handle yours? awesome vid :)

  • Hi there... beautiful spiders indeed! I do not handle mine, vagans tend to be skittish and a little defensive in my experience, so this is one particular species I dont handle... for its safety and mine... cheers!

  • @pufycino

Brachypelma species thrive on dry substrate

  • Looks like a male?

  • that looks like my mexican blonde after it molted (male)

  • ive been using a heat meat for years and none of mine have been burnt. in fact my mexucan redknee has burrowed to to bottom of the tank and getting maximum heat. hes even covered up all entrances to the hole. he moves about willy nilly in their. so, i suggest hes happy.

  • @matty628891 Tarantula heat mats don't produce Heat.. Just such a gentle warmth. Will not harm you'r T in any way :-) Just make sure you get the one specifically for T's as they are soo gentle.. Barley warm! The Manafacturas know alot about what they're designing the mats for, therefore wouldn't make it so it produces alot of heat. xx

  • @collinscunt dude dont use heat mats at all!! not evan on the side of your tank,

they create hotspots and can kill your spider.

if your room is cold just use a room heater :)
