Excuse me, I was mistaken. The Charter of RIghts and Freedoms mentions Aboriginal Treaties as paramount before Canadian citizen rights. Which in turn means, our rights should be taken care of before any other Canadian's. The Charter is entrenched in the Constitution, held as the Supreme Law of the Land.
I don't want to sound conceded as a fellow anishaabe person, but. . .we are ahead of Canadian rights as Anishaabe. I took a Law class at my high school. One, we have rights Canadian's don't. Two, Canadian rights are under the Charter of RIghts and Freedoms (underneath the constitution in power). We get these too. OUR additional rights (education for instance) are under our specific treaties (Attawapiskat is under the same one as my reserve [#9]) and are on the same level as the Constiution.
hmmm i remember going to school there when i was in grade 1 and now im in high school attending in a city. I still can't believe that idiot wont just give attawapiskat a new school. they deserve it and the kids too! the water is contaminated, the lake river is getting toilet remain (eew) from de beers. the people have been suffering, more deaths in the community, and more illnes going around. i feel bad leaving from there but i had no choice but to go with my family. i hope they wont give up.
i write 2 chuck strahl personally expressin my concern 4 these children & my cries went 2 deff ears & blind eyes it maked me sick wen he write me back saying that "they spent millions for the kids" my whole class all got a letter saying the exact samething i think every1 who watches this video shud writes to the house of comens & exspresses their concern for these children aswell he can only ignore so few but together we cannot be silenced. It's been over 30 years 2 many.
