can someone please explain to me what 'war on terror' actually means? -how can you wage war on an emotion?- 'war on terrorism' i can compute- but 'terror'?

ok about 15,000 ppl died during 9/11 (includes 3000 on plane and the ppl in the towers + emergency ppl on duty at the time) ---there were 19 terrorists in total

US declares war on afghan and iraq. Bombs the hell out of both countries and then invades. Americans have troops stationed all over afghanistan and iraq and they've been there for 9 years. WHAT have they accomplished?

hey hold on guys, I am a pakistani and being a paki I encounter the greatest threat from terrorism. why we are not looking for a solution to the problem? why we feel that war is the only way to combat terrorists? why we can not handle the issue diplomatically? why we wish to have our bones left in rocky mountains in Afghanistan, wishing to destroy every soul on the land of the lawless? Quit is the only way out. I bet on that.
