Around 1:30 p.m on Sunday, February 13, Baltimore County, MD fire units were alerted for a reported house fire at 3125 Blendon Road, in the exclusive gated community where the Caves Valley Country Club is located. Units reported smoke showing while responding, and when units from nearby Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Company arrived they were met with heavy smoke in the rear of the house, where the fire possibly started on a porch. The fire extended into the attic and roof area and flames vented through the roof. Access to the house was extremely limited, making firefighting operations challenging. This area has no fire hydrants, so firefighters had to use a tanker shuttle, bringing water from a hydrant more than a mile away via fire department water tankers. Units from across Baltimore County - as far as away as Kingsville, Long Green and Hereford - responded to the 2-alarm fire. According to Internet research, this home was built in 2002, is valued at more than $1.1 million, and is 5,291 square feet. It was the headquarters for The Elizabeth Flick Charitable Foundation Inc.

I can’t believe it met fire code no HYDRANTS. Even if the gated community is out side of city it is still inside of a state.

Oh my gosh, a gated community, a 1 million $ home and first no sprinklers, second NO FIRE HYDRANTS???

Do they spoil the neighborhood views or what?

Beautiful home, too bad it burned.
