UPDATE!!! The Universalist Church of Athens and Sheshequin, Pa have stared a "FEED-A-FRIEND" project to supply home grown produce to local familes in need.
you can contact them at 570 888 0252 or email them at minister@athensuuc.org or visit www.athensuuc.org.
Good for them.. If you know of any other churches please list them here.

FEEDING THE HUNGRY IS OUR MORAL DUTY. GIVING THEM FOOD WHICH CAUSES THEM HARM IS WRONG AND EVIL. WE NEED TO KEEP THE HUNGRY AS HEALTHY AS WE CAN.. BECAUSE TAKING CARE OF THEIR SICKNESS IS EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE.
Almost 33 Million people use "food stamps" now mostly plastic debit cards.
please thank governor Tim Pawlenty for his attempt to stop food stamp money being used for junk food.
email him at tim.pawlenty@state.mn.us
or call 651 296 3391 or 800 657 3717
or fax using faxzero.com for free.. 651 296 2089

We need more people like this..

The junk food industry won a major victory yesterday, when the U.S. Department of Agriculture rejected a petition that it enforce its own competitive foods rule, which prohibits public schools from selling foods of minimal nutritional value during mealtimes in school cafeterias. The rule was designed to promote the health of school children, but enforcement today is lax to non-existent. In the petition, Commercial Alert requested simply that the USDA enforce the rule as written. But the USDA has said No.

Stanley C. Garnett, director of USDAs Child Nutrition Division, wrote to Commercial Alert that At this time, we do not intend to undertake the activities or measures you recommended in your petition.

It is outrageous that the USDA is refusing to enforce its own rules against selling junk food in public schools, said Gary Ruskin, executive director of Commercial Alert. They have turned their back on American children, who are suffering from an epidemic of obesity.

The USDAs decision comes just days after the Justice Department slashed the penalty it seeks in a lawsuit against the tobacco industry from $130 billion to $10 billion.
The big question is.. at what income lever would the states tell the poor not to purchase lottery tickets!!! Ask them..

  • As of July 2011, 45,344,946 Americans depend on SNAP benefits (Food Stamps) to put food on the table.

    - Households can use SNAP benefits (Food Stamps) to buy seeds and plants which produce food for the household to eat.

  • resources are limited.. we don't have the resources to fund people with bad behavior. Help those who help themselves.. Yes I have a limited wallet. I have no health insurance and when it is my time to die I will .. hopefully without a whimper.

  • America is not a country it is a corporation.

you as an American is suppose to eat junk consume plastic garbage and then get sick.

they sell all types of poison even the air earth and waters are poisoned.

they want you sick so you can raise the profits for the Pharmaceutical companies, the Medical industry, insurance industry etc..They want you dead before your a burden on society,They certainly do not want you collecting pensions ,the few that escape their clutches are hounded.

  • @dave777blaster

I could not have said it better.

  • I feel the government already has too much power and control in the personal lives of American citizens...now to control what people buys on the food stamp program is going too far. Junk food happens to be less expensive than buying healthy. Food stamps don't go very far, therefore, this is the root issue.. I imagine our forefarthers would roll in their graves of how the people in this nation are allowing so much gov control. After all, our forefathers fought and died for our freedoms...CORRECT!

  • @MrsShay10 The gov.. Chris Carney and the rest of them are forcing me to buy health insurance which I won't use. if I dont they will fine arrest and jail me.

and your worried about poor people not being subsidized to buy junk food.

Big sacrifice. People in other countries would kill for some barley and lentels.

Maybe we should give them the good food and screw those who refuse

    to take care of themselves..

  • @714sublime you missed the point of the video.

  • @fognog3 pay for it yourself, then.

  • If you can't afford to have chiklden, you have no right to produce them. It's not fair to the children, to bring them into the world when you can't afford to even give them the basics.

  • Here in Texas very soon food stamps card can only be use to buy healthy food. Ice cream and chips, candy, even pop tarts will be some of the items not allowed for purchase.

  • these food stamp videos are funny-some complain that folks buy junk food with food stamps-other people complain because people buy shrimp or steak with food stamps, which by the way is so called healthy food==so if they aren't supposed to buy junk and they aren't supposed to buy such things as a steak then what are they supposed to eat? =if a person qualifies for food stamps keep your nose out of their grocery cart,,,

  • well said..my son is a victim.(4) cavity's at the age of 4..myself his father is fighting the government to get him off of welfare and stop his mom from getting food stamps.. I work hard to provide for my son and the government is killing my son and him mom is to damn dumb to understand because its free.. great video

  • @PumpingSmashkins everybody pays for it. You think your the only person in america that pays taxes? get real it is MY MONEY!

  • @fognog3 It's my business when I pay for it. Stop being a pathetic parasite and you can do whatever you want with your own money.

  • @shayarzachary That goes without saying...which is perhaps why he didn't say it. It's an entirely different story, however, since the working person is being forced to buy the junk food FOR the food stamp recipient, and then eventually foot the bill for their medical problems. Contrast that with an individual making the poor but free decision to buy his own junk food, and also having the financial responsibility to cover his own medical expenses.
