THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL!

During the recording of "The Electric Co.", Bono included a 27 second snippet of Stephen Sondheim's "Send in the Clowns". When Under a Blood Red Sky was released, U2 failed to get permission and pay the appropriate licensing and royalty fees to include that piece of Sondheim's tune on the album. When Sondheim objected, U2 agreed to pay a $50,000 (US) penalty for the unauthorized use and to press all future releases with a new version that did not include the snippet.

really kickin' it up with that bass..awesome unique sound....

@rebootYOURSELF, the red rocks version guitar performance isn't quite as stellar as some other performances; the 'best' version (imo) is the un-edited version of the October deluxe album live track from 3-6-81. Exception being that the Red Rocks performance had a full pro recording set up unlike all the other performances so you get a full range dynamic sound with the red rocks performance, but still the 3-6-81 performance is tops, and also had pro recording though in a club. Also Roskilde'82.

my view was the 7,777 view...

Thin Lizzy - one of the most underrated bands of all time. Phil was rock n roll.

The best version of the song is on Red Rocks 1983.

Man, they were so good then it wasn't funny. Pure raw energy. Edge's guitar playing is unreal, but I just love the bass on this track too.
